Velma Sue Smith

August 9, 1945 — December 3, 2023

Velma Sue Miller Smith, age 78 of Acworth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee Sue was a longtime resident of Cobb County and attended North Cobb High School. She was also a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville.


Along with her husband, Eddie, Sue owned and operated Kennesaw Elementary Day Care Center for many years.


Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward "Eddie" Smith, Sr.; her parents, Carl Seldon Miller and Hattie Irene Miller; brother, James Carl Miller and sisters, Shirley Tarpley and Carolyn Prewett.


Sue leaves behind three sons, Robert Edward Smith, Jr (Sunny), Brandon Keith Smith (Jennifer), Kevin Glenn Smith (Kelly); sister Phyillis Wilbur and brothers; Doug Miller and Stephen Miller. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashton Smith Womack (Jacob), Abigail Smith, Courtney Smith, Kaylee Smith, Buddy Smith, Trey Smith (Lauren), Kadie Smith, Kamryn Smith, and Christian Smith and great grandchildren Whitley Kate and Wrenley Anne Womack.


A celebration of life service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Saturday, December 16th, at 12:00 pm. Donations can be made in Sue’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
