Barbara Elizabeth Jury

Barbara Elizabeth Jury, 77, passed away on August 21, 2025. Barb was born on January 21, 1948, in Grove City, Ohio to the late George Edward and Ruth Elizabeth Schofield Renner.

Barb graduated from Franklin Heights High School, class of 1966, in Columbus, Ohio, and was a 1970 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a BS in Education, focusing on Elementary Education. Barb was an educator in the Dayton Ohio Public School system for thirty-three years as well as a lifelong learner. She earned her MS in Education in 1976 and an Ohio schools Library Science certificate in 1979, both from Wright State University. Barb taught all grades kindergarten through sixth, served as the librarian and media specialist for several elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the district, and ended her career as the Director of Media Services for Dayton Public Schools, where she supervised all libraries in the school system.

In 2003, following a move to Severna Park, Maryland, Barb was an educator and counselor in the Adult Basic Skills Program at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland. In 2012, Barb retired to The Villages, Florida where she was an active member and leader in several clubs including Clown Alley 179, Disney Fan Club, the Ohio Club, League of Women Voters, and The Villages Democratic Club. In 2024, Barb moved to Clairmont Place in Decatur, Georgia to be near her family. There she was active in several of the homeowner’s association committees.

Most of all, Barb was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Tom Jury, son, Douglas (Elizabeth) Jury of Atlanta, grandchildren, Thomas and Mary Jury of Atlanta, sister Betty (Carl) Rees of Grove City, brother Bob (Pam) Renner of Piketon, sister-in-law Sharon Patterson of Grove City, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Renner.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Frazier Center, 1815 S.
