Beverly Joyce Burroughs, 80, died March 3, following a year-long illness. Born in Bat Cave, North Carolina, she was a high school cheerleader and honor student, graduated from Wake Forest University, did graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Georgia State University, and taught high school English in the Atlanta school system for 30 years. Predeceased by her parents John and Elaine Moore Burroughs, both high school teachers like her, she is survived by sister Sylvia Wrobel, nephew Gabriel Wrobel, his wife Kristine Bowman, and great nephew Quinn Bowman Wrobel. She was close to a number of caring neighborhood friends. She loved her dog Lily, who has since found a good home, and she took great pride in her house and its beautifully landscaped yard. A memorial service will be held sometime in May. Her ashes will be scattered in the North Carolina mountains where her beloved parents are buried.
