In Loving Memory of Caroline Ellen Sommer

“Wawa”

Caroline Ellen Sommer, age 72, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and even though she eventually made her home in Georgia, first in Acworth and later in Douglasville, she was, and always would be, a Jersey girl at heart.

To those who loved her most, Caroline was affectionately known as Wawa—a name that came to represent so much more than a grandmother. She cherished her family and treasured her time spent with them.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Steve Sommer; her daughters, Stacy Bradshaw (Hud) and Stephanie Sommer; four grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy, Adelaide McNutt, Taylor Potter, Max Bradshaw, and Sophia Bradshaw; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Lily.

Being a grandmother and great-grandmother was one of Caroline’s greatest joys. She leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind a family she loved fiercely, a legacy carried forward through her children and grandchildren, and countless memories that will be cherished, shared, and retold for generations to come.

Caroline is also survived by her brothers, Matthew Williams and Clint Williams; her sister, Elise Henion; and several nieces and nephews, who will forever remember her as a cherished part of their family.

Anyone who knew Caroline knew that her heart had a special place for her “babies”. She was an avid dog lover and never hesitated to give a furry friend a little extra love, attention, or food from her plate. Her beloved companions, Lucy, Tucker, and Bentley, were not simply pets; they were family, and they brought her tremendous joy and companionship.

Her family will miss her voice, her stories, her hugs, her hot dog stew, her braciole, and all the little things that made her uniquely Wawa.

Though her chair may now be empty, her love will continue to fill the hearts of everyone who knew her. She lives on in her husband, her daughters, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her siblings, her extended family, and in the paw prints left behind by the dogs she loved so dearly.

Caroline was a Jersey girl, a loving wife, a devoted mother, a cherished Wawa, a beloved sister and aunt, a fierce defender, a formidable opponent, and a mom to all of her four-legged “babies”.

She was deeply loved. She will be deeply missed. And she will forever be our Wawa.
