Charles Mitchell Long, 61, of Rome, GA passed away on May 8, 2024. Charles was born on July 29, 1962 in Cartersville, GA to James F. Long and Anne Lane Long. Charles was a beloved son, brother and friend to all. His tender heart was known to quietly show up helping and supporting wherever needed. He graduated West Rome High School in 1981 and joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged at the end of his service and returned home to join the family business.
He earned his double degree in marketing and management while managing Long Furniture Company. Charles showed a unique gift for working with numbers and analysis. He later excelled during his 20 year love for real estate working for Hardy Realty and Crye-Leike and earned several Top Honors for sales throughout his career.
Charles was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and of the Rome Exchange Club where he was elected president for 2019 and he enjoyed his work with the Rome Fair Grounds.
He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Long and brother, James (Little Jim) Long and is survived by his mother, Anne Lane Long; sisters, Sallie Long (Bill) Sirmon and Martha Anne Long Alvis; nieces, Linda K. Alvis and Joyce E. Sirmon (John) Watkins; nephew, John Lane (Heidi) Sirmon; great nieces and nephew and best friend and honorary family member, Patrice Robinson Dubanevich.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 4 PM at Trinity Methodist Church, 606 Turner McCall Blvd, Rome, GA 30165.
