Charlie Wyatt Tedder, 74, peacefully passed away at at his home April 29, 2023. Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Hemphill Tedder from Conley, GA, his father Roy Lee Tedder from Atlanta, GA, and his brother Donald LeRoy Tedder, also from Atlanta.
Charlie graduated from Briarcliff High School in DeKalb County, in 1967. He served as a member of the US Army in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. He discovered a passion for the outdoors and later completed the Horticulture program at North Metro Tech.
Charlie was a humble, hard working, honest man that loved plants and nature. He served as Head Groundsman at the Kent School District in Washington State until 1987 and then at the Cobb County School System in Marietta, Georgia until his retirement in 2012. Since that time he continued to operate his small grounds keeping business, Southern Pride.
The only thing that Charlie loved more than the outdoors was his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Greer Tedder, of Marietta, Georgia, his daughter Erin Tedder Thomas and husband Dave, of Marietta, Georgia, his son, Cary Tedder and wife Mary Michael Patterson of Atlanta, Georgia, his granddaughters Allie Dale (16) and Kathryn Dale (13) of Marietta, and his faithful dog Chauncey and beloved cat Callie. Because of Charlie’s passion and dedication to his work, countless trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers have been planted and cared for. He leaves the world more beautiful than he entered it.
Charlie’s family would like to thank his many loyal customers, friends and neighbors with a celebration of his life at his home on June 17,2023 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
