Deborah Devlin Bumgardner

Debbie Bumgardner, 69, of Canton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. She was born on June 24, 1956, in Waynesville, North Carolina, to the late Carrol and Hilda Devlin of Canton, North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Danny Devlin.

Debbie graduated from Pisgah High School in Canton, North Carolina, and attended UNC-Asheville. She worked in banking when she and Max lived in Ohio. Upon Max’s transfer back to North Carolina, she worked as the Administrative Assistant at Canton Central United Methodist for over 20 years. She was a member of the Lions Club in both Canton, North Carolina, and Canton, Georgia, and she had recently received the Melvin Jones Fellowship. She was a proud Lion, having been to International Conventions in Canada, Japan, and the United States. She was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan; she and Max had been season ticket holders for a number of years and traveled throughout the United States to follow the Bulldogs, including trips to the Rose Bowl and National Championship games. But most importantly, she was a proud Nannie to her grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed. She was a loving wife, Mom, Nannie to her grandchildren, and dog Mom to Georgia, Callie, and Sassy. The world will be a little darker without her.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Max. Her sons: Blair (Michelle) of Canton, Georgia; Eric (Melissa) of Fairfield, Ohio; Greg (Lauren) of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Grandchildren Logan, Amelia, Kenyon, Evan, Madison, and Tyler. Her beloved Australian Labradoodles, Georgia, Callie, and Sassy.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 11 am at Waleska United Methodist Church, 7340 Reinhardt College Parkway, Waleska, Georgia.
