Donna Kay Woods Walker, 78, passed away peacefully on July 6th in Roswell, Georgia. Born on August 25, 1946, in Austin, Texas, Donna was a woman of exceptional intellect, compassion, and spirit. She lived a life rooted in curiosity, service, and love.
A lifelong learner and teacher, Donna mastered five languages and never stopped expanding her mind, or encouraging others to do the same. Her passion for education shone through in her career as a beloved teacher, earning her the title of Teacher of the Year multiple times. But awards couldn’t begin to capture her true impact. Donna kept in touch with students long after they left her classroom, mentoring, cheering them on, and reminding them of their worth.
Donna also shared parts of her story in her own words, co-authoring two powerful books: Behind the Power: You're Not Crazy, You Are Powerful and Behind the Power: Your Success is Waiting on You. She spoke and wrote with the same light she carried into every space while offering truth, hope, and healing.
She was deeply devoted to the people and animals she loved. Her loyal companions, Abby, Tiana, and Popcorn, brought her endless joy and comfort. Her garden, and especially the labyrinth she so lovingly and thoughtfully curated and tended, became a sanctuary not only for herself but for anyone who came seeking beauty, peace, or reflection. She welcomed all with her signature red hair, a radiant smile, and a spirit that could light up even the darkest day.
Donna overcame many hardships in her life, but she never let adversity define her. She met each challenge with grace, resilience, and a fierce love for life. She found her chosen family, and she will be loved and cherished by them for eternity. Her legacy is one of strength, joy, and boundless generosity.
Donna’s presence was a gift, and she leaves behind a world made better by her love, her wisdom, and her endless light.
