Dorothy Elizabeth Lanham

March 13, 1947 — July 6, 2025

Woodstock, GA

Dorothy Elizabeth Lanham passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Dorothy was born on March 13, 1947, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Maul) Orlosky and was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, MI, in 1965. Throughout her working years, she worked in craft stores, as a librarian, a perfume buyer for Macy’s, and at various department stores, including roles as a store manager. Dorothy had a love for any craft that used a needle, whether that was knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, or anything else. More than any other craft, Dorothy had a love of quilting. Much time was spent in front of the many sewing machines she owned or sitting in a chair with needle and thread in hand, creating quilts with an attention to detail and perfection that were unmatched. For all that she loved quilting, she equally loved sharing those quilts with family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Sam Lanham; children and grandchildren: daughter Kimberly Knell, son John Beach (Nikki), grandson Joseph Tavarez (Jaymmie), grandson Jeremy Knell (Amanda), grandson David Knell (Andrea), granddaughter Abigail Beach, granddaughter Ella Beach and six great-grandchildren; brother Jim Orlosky, sister Karen Mericle, sister Linda Schisler and uncle Lewis Maul (Billie Jane). Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Orlosky, her brother, John Orlosky, and her brother, Joel Orlosky.

A memorial service will be held at His Hands Church on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., located at 550 Molly Lane, Woodstock, GA 30189. Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though she has departed this earthly life, we take great comfort in knowing that her old self has been made new and she now sits with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” – Philippians 3:20-21
