With hearts full of profound sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Francis Jeanette Berryman Thomason of Marietta, Georgia, who peacefully went to heaven surrounded by her family on April 6, 2026 at the age of 103. A woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, and grace, she lived more than a century as a force of nature — unyielding, loving, and unforgettable.
Jeanette was was born in Royston, Georgia on February 27, 1923. She was the daughter of the late William Robert Berryman and Agnes Boyd Willbanks. She was preceeded in death by her sisters Martha Julia Berryman Kuglar and Sara Jane Berryman Huff and her son Matthew DeWitt Thomason III. During WWII she worked at the Georgia State Capitol for the Attorney General. She also worked over the years at Taylor Publishing Co and The Birmingham Symphony. She loved gardening, playing bridge and spending time with her friends and family. Her joyful spirit was evident to anyone who was blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband of 81 years, Matthew DeWitt Thomason Jr, her son Bill Thomason and his wife Andrea Thomason, her daughter-in-law Linda Thomason, her grandchildren Gini Johnson, Leslie Kleine, Mathew Thomason IV, Elizabeth Smoak, Jessica Rodriguez and Laura Johnson. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Abby Johnson, Charles Kleine, Miles Kleine, Kyle Smoak, Ava Smoak, Owen Brumfield, Olivia Brumfield, Maya Rodriguez, Ellie Rodriguez, Brinkley Johnson and Barrett Johnson. Her celebration of life will be on May 2 at 2PM at the Marietta Campground.
