Grady J. Gentles

December 22, 1945 — April 26, 2025

Dallas

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Grady Gentles on April 26, 2025. Born December 22, 1945, Grady lived a full life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Sharon Gentles, whom he married in 1965, their sons Greg and Gary (Tracy) Gentles, his cherished granddaughters, Taylor (Jacob) Achenbach and Megan Gentles, his sister Helen Morton, his brother Eldon Wilson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His mother Vivian Wilson, father John Gentle, and brother David Wilson preceded him in death.

Grady had an unquenchable thirst for life, with a penchant for sweet tea often quenching his physical thirst. He was a man of simple tastes, favoring the moral clarity of western movies and the long-running TV show, Gunsmoke. A fan of music, Grady loved the soulful tunes of Alabama and The Oak Ridge Boys, an affection he often expressed through his appreciation for their performances.

Grady was a master at knife making, a craft that he not only enjoyed but also used to create beautiful pieces. He often found peace and solace walking or pedaling along the Silver Comet Trail, and his fondness for Florida, his preferred vacation spot, can only be rivaled by his love for his family and friends.

Family was always at the center of Grady’s life. Together with Sharon, he built a home full of unconditional love, kindness, and unwavering support. Together, they raised two sons - Gregory and Gary - who were his pride and joy. Grady found particular happiness in spending time with his granddaughters who were the apples of his eye.

Even at work, throughout 35+ years of dedication to machining for the steel industry, Grady was the anchor during hard times, the peacemaker in conflict, and the source of strength for everyone who knew him.

Though he may no longer be with us, his memory lives on in all those who knew and loved him. Grady was a beacon of life radiating warmth, comfort, and support. His love, wisdom, and laughter will be forever etched in our hearts.

Family and friends can join the family to celebrate Grady’s life on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Earl Duncan Park at Paulding Meadows (located at 472 Paulding Meadows Dr, Dallas, GA 30132) from 12pm to 3pm.

A second gathering to celebrate Grady’s life will be held in Northwest Indiana on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Additional details to be provided at a later date.
