Hattie Mae Carlisle Summerlin

June 1, 1936 — March 19, 2024

Born June 1, 1936 and went to be with her Lord on March 19, 2024. Hattie moved to Hayesville, NC in 2011. Hattie was a military wife for 23 years; she traveled to Germany and France, she loved good ole Country Music, she loved to dance, play Bingo, going on bus trips with friends and family. She was most often the life of the party. She was blessed to live independently until her death. She always trusted in the Lord.


Hattie is preceded in death by her father; A.B. Carlisle Sr., her mother Thelma Pollard Carlisle, her sister Racheal Faulkner and her brother A.B. Carlisle Jr.


She is survived by her daughters Patricia S McLawhorn of Hayesville, NC, Theresa Strickland of Warne, NC and a son Billy Strickland of Hayesville, NC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Courtney Moss of Warne, NC; Malissa and wife Julie Reel of Hayesville, NC; Shelly Ledford Pekel of San Diego, CA; Jen King of Manchester CT, Carlton and wife Cerena Armond of Hookerton, NC; Billie Jo Strickland of Hayesville, NC; She is survived by 9 Greatgrandchildren; Nina Reel of Peachtree, NC; Allen Reel of Gloucester VA; Michael Vernon of San Diego, CA; Dream Ledford of Blairsville, GA; Sierra Strickland of Durham, NC; Micheal St. Andrews of Hayesville, NC; Savanah Cody and husband Josh of Hayesville, NC; Casidee Armond of Hookerton, NC; Melina Armond of Hookerton, NC; Kyle Graves of Warne, NC and Heather Anderson of Warne, NC. Hattie was blessed with 5 Great-Great Grandchildren; Henry St. Andrews of Hayesville, NC; C.J. Martin, Onyx Reel of Peachtree, NC; Jerimiah Cody and Kaisley Cody of Hayesville, NC.


In lieu of flowers plant a fruit tree in her honor. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date when we can all be together.


Her Granddaughter Malissa Reel said it best: Grandma Hattie made her final journey to her forever home late last night. I am not sad. I am certain she wasn't either. She was full of piss and vinegar and lived independent until the lord took her home.
