Jack was larger than any words I could ever compose.
Most obituaries revolve around facts and dates, but Jack was so much more than numbers etched in time.
Above all, Jack was a teacher and a mentor. Eight years ago, when I, his significant other, moved in with him, I was a broken soul, still trying to navigate the minefield of a traumatic past.
Jack once told me I was the only person he’d ever known who thought so much less of themselves than they were worth — and that it would be his mission to change that.
And he did.
In our early years, he saved me. In our later years, I saved him. We were the perfect yin and yang — a love built on balance, strength, and showing up for each other.
On Friday, April 25th, 2025, Jack Brumbelow's body left this majestic mountain, but his spirit remains.
He passed surrounded by the people and creatures who loved him most: me, the love of his life and his purpose; his best friend Chuck Bunn; our son and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Kayla Doegg. And, of course, all our beloved furbabies — especially his sweet Gracie, who lay beside him until the very end.
Jack is preceded in death by his father, Herman Brumbelow; his mother, Edna Brumbelow; his brother, David Brumbelow; and his beloved daughter, Amanda Brumbelow.
He is survived by his partner, Kelly Shackelford; son, Robert Kelly Brumbelow; stepsons Jordan, Cody, and Max Doegg; and stepdaughter, Cassie Little. His grandchildren — Addie Little, Ryder Doegg, Toby Max Doegg Jr., and Ella Davis — brought him great joy.
Also surviving Jack are his surrogate daughter and dear friend Lisa Cooper Sanchez; nephew Lee Brumbelow; great-nieces Lily and Addy Brumbelow; and close friends Bob and Toria Morgan, and Chuck and Marilyn Bunn.
His circle of friends, ex-girlfriends, and ex-wives is too extensive to name — but know this: Jack loved fiercely, and he loved forever. Every one of them held a special place in his enormous heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held on the mountain, June 21, 2025 @ 5 PM, Victory Baptist Church, Gathering Room in Cedartown, GA, then afterwards at 6 PM the Scattering of Ashes over the lake, with refreshments and drinks to follow.
All friends and family are invited to attend one or both ceremonies
