James Darryl Barnes, age 66 of Carrollton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 29, 2025. Jim was born on May 9, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late James Arthur Barnes and Annie V. Little.
Jim was a man with many talents but he spent his most recent years as a mechanical technician repairing trailers for 18 wheelers. He would spend a lot of his evenings at home tinkering on other projects that he either created himself or bought in dire need of upgrading. He also tested out his green thumb from time to time growing different vegetables which surprisingly worked out with the occasional tomato or pepper being produced. Golf was a hobby that he loved doing with his sons and even though they were all super competitive, they had a great time together. He loved his family and friends so very much and even though as a very quiet and private person most of the time, he occasionally let loose and allowed you to see his fun, charismatic side. He will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, John Morris. He leaves behind his long time sweetheart of 34 years, Kathy Williams; sons, Joseph Barnes (Chasty), Anthony Barnes (Virginia), Jeremy Barnes (Tomi), and Josh Williams (Samantha); daughters, Tana Williams (Michael), Heather Williams (Charles), and Michelle Williams (Phillip); and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
