James Lewis Dennis III passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of those closest to him, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and service.
A lifelong cattle farmer and devoted educator, Jim dedicated much of his life to teaching and mentoring others. He taught Advanced Placement Chemistry at Parkersburg High School for 30 years and later taught chemistry at Creekview High School in Canton, Georgia, for 10 years. Known for his passion for science, patience, and encouragement, he left a lasting impact on generations of students. Many remember him not only as a gifted teacher but also as a mentor who inspired them to believe in themselves and pursue their goals. Whether in the classroom or on the farm, Jim exemplified hard work, integrity, humility, and a commitment to helping others.
Above all else, Jim cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a steadfast source of guidance and support to those who knew him best.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Nolan-Dennis; his son, Andrew Dennis; his sisters, Karen Tichnell, Alice Dorsey, and April Galen; his stepsons, Jon Mason (Maria Cervania) and Logan Mason (Bernadita Mason-Yunis); his cherished granddaughter, Olga Mason-Yunis; and Roy Brannon, whom he loved as a son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rayma Dennis; his brother, Eric Dennis; and his beloved sister, Robin Fleak.
Jim will be remembered for his generous heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, students, and community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
A Celebration of Life will be held on [DATE TBD] at [TIME TBD] at [LOCATION TBD]. All who knew and loved Jim are warmly invited to attend. Family, friends, former students, colleagues, neighbors, and members of the community are encouraged to join in celebrating his life and sharing stories and memories, which the family would greatly appreciate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim's honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
