May 29, 1948 — December 10, 2025

Douglasville

Jean Marie Jennings, 77, a resident of Douglasville GA, passed away on December 10th at Tranquility Hospice. Born in Augusta GA, the daughter of the late Venson Brown & Dorothy Gunter Jennings, and raised in the Stiefeltown community in Warrenville SC, Jean was a 1966 graduate of Leavelle McCampbell High School in Graniteville SC. After high school, she worked as a Finance Clerk with the US Postal Service in Warrenville and later retired while living in the Atlanta GA area.

Jean is survived by her sons, Chuck Jones (Dirk Tacke) and Chris (Wendy) Jones; brother, Jerrold (Barbara) Jennings; twin sister, Sally Jennings; and grandchildren, Caroline and Ryan Jones. She is also survived by many Gunter and Jennings nieces, nephews, cousins, and an uncle, Edward Gunter (Estela).

Life was seldom a planned path for Jean, but rather a unique journey with twists, turns, unexpected challenges, but always one that embraced the now. She did life her way, not often looking back, and she never met a stranger. Some of her best memories over the years were Gunter Family Gatherings, new adventures, friendships and relationships she embraced without hesitation, many with memories and stories she would recall perfectly.

Honoring her wishes, Jean will be cremated with private inurnment in Graniteville Historic Cemetery, Graniteville, with four generations of Jennings Family.

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
