In Loving Memory of Jerred Otis Coombs

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jerred Otis Coombs, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud American, who passed away on June 4, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born in Atlanta, GA on December 12, 1948, to George Carter Coombs Sr. and Lilma Cecil Skelton. Jerred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances; and his siblings, Patricia Hester, Kenneth Coombs, and George Coombs Jr. Jerred is survived by his sister Pam Chapman and her husband Mike of Tellico Plains, TN; his children, Cindy Owens and her husband Bill of Kennesaw, GA; Tracy Hale of Fayetteville, GA; Brandy Padgett and her husband Brian of Marble Hill, GA; and Tommy Mays and his wife Linsey of Holly Springs, GA. Jerred was also a proud grandfather to Jenna Gentile, Bryce Hale, Braden Hale, Madalyn Owens, Emily Owens, Brandan Vasquez, Anthony Arreaga, Travis Arreaga, Thomas Mays, Madison Stancil, Mackenzie Painter, Macy Mays, and Price Mays. Additionally, he leaves behind many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.

Jerred's devotion to his country was evident in his service in the United States Navy, where he served honorably from July 1967 to his discharge in April 1971. During his service, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. After his time in the Navy, Jerred continued to serve others in his professional life as an Air Traffic Controller and later in various roles within the retail, trucking, and warehouse industries, until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Jerred was known for his kind heart, unwavering love, and a deep commitment to his family. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and unshakeable loyalty to those he loved.

A service will be held in honor of Jerred’s life and legacy on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:30 am at the Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114).

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
