Julie Doering Prefontaine

December 23, 1976 — July 29, 2025

Julie Lynn (Doering) Prefontaine, age 48, of Dunwoody, GA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 29th, 2025 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Louisville, KY, Julie is survived by her devoted husband Korey, adoring son Jack (who affectionately called her “Flower”), loving parents John (Jack) and Lynn Doering, sister Jennifer Kelly, nieces Gracie and Hannah Kelly, father and mother-in-law Paul and Deborah Johnson, brother-in-law Evan Johnson, and sisters-in-law Melissa Johnson and Anissa Prefontaine, as well as her beloved puppies, Brady and Bella. She also leaves behind a loving extended family and many friends and colleagues. Julie was predeceased by her grandparents Carl and Sherlene Harrison and Albert and Peggy Doering, as well as her much-loved labradoodle, Carson.

After moving to Alpharetta from Tampa in 1987, Julie graduated from Chattahoochee High School in 1995. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia where she was a proud member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She then earned a double masters in Business Administration and Hospital Administration from Georgia State University. Julie had a 16-year career with Northside Hospital, most recently serving as a Director in the business office. She was known for her problem-solving skills and her willingness to roll up her sleeves to get the job done.

Julie was the rock of her family, known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She was her dad’s apprentice and loved doing projects around the house. Julie had a passion for travel and a thirst for learning, visiting places like Hawaii, Mexico, France, Switzerland, and India over her lifetime. She was strong in her Christian faith and was actively involved with Buckhead Church small groups through the years including leading a women’s group.

Her true passion was her son Jack. She was an outstanding mother and Jack’s number one cheerleader. Whether working on a school project, supporting him at swim meets, or attending events together at the Wesleyan School, Julie cherished every moment spent with Jack.

Julie stayed strong and fought hard until the very end. She was a testament to her faith and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dunwoody Baptist Church on August 14th, at 2PM with a visitation starting at 1PM.
