Larry James Tinsley, 79, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away on April 28, 2025. He was born in McCaysville, Georgia, and spent his life working hard, loving his family, and enjoying the outdoors.
Larry was a skilled carpenter and woodworker who could build just about anything. He took pride in his craft and found joy in creating with his hands. He was always willing to lend a hand when something needed to be built or fixed. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, and rappelling in his free time.
He faced a 15-year battle with cancer with strength and determination. He did not let it define him and kept going as best he could.
Larry was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Virginia Tinsley. He was a loving father to Michelle (Steve) Turner, William T. (Charlotte) Dobson, Mary (Greg) Essig, Autumn (William) Hamilton, Tiffany (Michael) Styles, and daughter-in-law Tonya Tinsley. He was preceded in death by his son, Ty Tinsley, and by his parents, Catherine and Harold Tinsley of Marietta.
He is survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jeremy, Austin, Evan, Marli, Liberty, Miles, Elodie, Abigail, and Hunter. He was proud of each one of them and enjoyed seeing them grow. Larry also leaves behind his siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his loyal dog Max who was always by his side.
Larry lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty to his family, and quiet strength. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
