Lelia Pittman Crowe Johnson, age 89, passed away March 8, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born November 27, 1933, to the late Judge Claude Cleveland and Emily Daves Pittman.
She was a graduate of Cartersville High School. Later she studied nursing at Kennesaw State University and received a Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from St. Joseph’s College.
She was a lifelong member of Sam Jones Methodist Church and active in many church and community organizations throughout her life.
Leila’s son, Charles V Crowe III (Alice) preceded her in death. She is survived by two children, Robert Pittman Crowe (Laurie) and Lelia Anne Johnson Mackey (James). Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Following the death of her husband, Charles V. Crowe Jr., in 1962 she filled his unexpired term in the Georgia General Assembly. Edward Harold Johnson, her husband of 38 years, passed away in 1998.
Lelia was the youngest of five children. Her siblings, Claude Pittman Jr., Walter Daves Pittman, Emily Ann Hatfield and Mary Ferguson Barker predeceased her.
Visitation for Lelia Johnson is to be Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 10 AM in the sanctuary of Sam Jones Methodist Church, 100 Church St., Cartersville, GA. A Celebration of Life Service is to follow at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Sam Jones Methodist Church of Murphy Harpst Children’s Home, 740 Fletcher St., Cedartown GA. be considered.
