Lynda Land Ponder, 77, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 2, 1948, in Trion, Georgia, Lynda dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband, Larry, and their daughter, Jennifer.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Ponder; daughter Jennifer Ritchey; grandson Tyler Ritchey; two great-grandchildren, Nora Ritchey and Owen Ritchey; and her siblings Joe Land, Millie Bell, Libby Goss, Theresa Duncan, and Priscilla Roberts. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Gail Ponder, parents, Willa Mae (Clark) Land and Alvis Walton Land, as well as her siblings Richard Land, and Retta Ballard.
Lynda was a proud graduate of Cartersville High School, Class of 1966.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and caring for her beloved cats. She also cherished time spent in the mountains and enjoyed trout fishing— even when she happened to hook a duck instead of a fish.
We honor the life of a strong, steadfast woman whose love shaped generations. Though known for her sternness and unshakable resolve, she carried a heart full of quiet tenderness—one she shared generously with those she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, whose presence could steady any storm.
Lynda nurtured her husband, children, grandchild, great-grandchildren, and siblings with wisdom, loyalty, and unwavering support, becoming a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her legacy is one of resilience, strength, and humor tucked behind a firm gaze. Her love—often expressed in quiet, practical ways—was always deeply felt. Her stories, her lessons, and the firm foundation she provided will forever be cherished. Her spirit lives on in the generations she helped raise and in the countless memories that will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those who loved her.
May she rest in peace, reunited with those she has long missed and remembered always with love and gratitude.
