Marjorie Ann Fasbinder, known fondly as "Marjie,” a loving mother, devoted partner, and cherished sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, June 7, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on February 2, 1944, in Vineland, New Jersey, Marjorie grew up along the shores of South Florida, where her deep love for the beach shaped the free and vibrant spirit she carried throughout her life. A beloved artist and dedicated teacher, she lived a life full of color, creativity, and compassion. For over 30 years, she dedicated herself to teaching elementary school art, becoming far more than a teacher to her students. Her own artwork was a window into her life, telling her story with beauty and leaving behind a visual legacy that will live on for all who had the joy of seeing it.

Among her deepest passions was her boundless love for animals. She spent countless days and nights caring for and rescuing cats and dogs in need, offering them the same tender compassion she gave to everyone in her life.

Marjorie is survived by her beloved partner, Michael Thivener (Woodstock, GA); her son, Brent Fasbinder and his wife Shirley (St. Louis, MO); her daughter, Christine Veith and her husband Elmer (Atlanta, GA); her brother, Joseph Marghella (Vineland, NJ); her grandchildren, Ethan Fasbinder, Lindsey Fasbinder, and Van Veith; and her beloved cat, Marco. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply, a community of students and friends whose lives she forever shaped, and a world made brighter by her having been in it. May her creative spirit and kind heart remain with all who knew her.

A celebration of life service will be held at a date in the future in South Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Marjorie's memory to a no-kill animal rescue or shelter. A few organizations that accept donations in her honor:
