Marvin Leroy McLean, 88, of Oakwood, GA peacefully passed away January 5, 2026.
He was born December 25, 1937 in Binghamton, New York and was the son of the late James and Naomi McLean.
He was preceded in death by Florence B. McLean (first wife), Donna Campbell McLean (former wife), Austin Campbell (grandson), and Paul McLean (brother).
Marvin McLean was an All American Volleyball player for Florida State University in 1956-57. He left college to serve in Vietnam with the Air Force as an air traffic controller from 1961-1965. He worked selling insurance with Modern Woodman in Port Charlotte and Publix Supermarkets Produce Department in Punta Gorda where he retired. Marvin, better known as “Spike” from playing volleyball, loved all sports. He was a Charlotte County Senior Softball player, coach, and umpire at Carmalita Park in Punta Gorda, Florida. All loved his infamous “STRIK…A!”.
Marvin “Spike” McLean is survived by his late wife’s (Donna Campbell McLean) children: Brenda (Joe) Anderson, Bonnie (Robert) Brown, and John (Barbara) Campbell; eleven grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held privately at a later date.
