Mary Alice Lane Howze, 65, gracefully departed this earthly realm on August 2, 2023, in Snellville, GA. She was born on March 25, 1958, in Lake Wells, FL, and was a cherished daughter of the late James Edwin Lane, Sr. and Lottie Mae Walker Lane. Mary's journey was preceded by her beloved brother, James E. Lane, Jr.
From her earliest days, Mary's heart overflowed with profound love and devotion for the Lord. She humbly embraced the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, and through her unwavering faith, she found solace and strength in the arms of her Savior. With a spirit of deep gratitude and a radiant light within her, Mary became an ordained evangelist in the South-Central Georgia Jurisdiction and joined the State Choir sharing the message of God's love and salvation to all who would listen. Mary's devotion to her faith infused every facet of her life, inspiring her to walk with humility, respect for all of creation, and an unfailing love for her fellow beings.
Mary seized every opportunity to extend a helping hand to those in need, embracing a career dedicated to uplifting others. Her educational journey encompassed the halls of Westover High School, where she graduated in 1976, and Auburn University, where she emerged with laurels of knowledge and wisdom. Through her tireless efforts and compassionate spirit, Mary's impact on the lives she touched was immeasurable.
Mary's life was beautifully interwoven with love and cherished relationships. She found her soul's mate in her devoted husband, Eric Howze, and on March 4, 2006, their hearts became eternally entwined. Together, they created a blended family, nurturing three cherished bonus children. Mary's legacy extends through her surviving brothers, Kenneth A. Lane of Marietta, GA, Johnny E. Lane (Bridget) of Pensacola, FL, and Darrell L. Lane (Nicole) of Albany, GA. She is also survived by her sisters, Alma L. Lane of Albany, GA, and Cynthia Lane of San Antonia, TX. Additionally, she leaves behind a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom were blessed by her presence and will forever hold her dear in their hearts.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at the family home located at 3862 Imperial Dr, Snellville, GA, on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 1pm to 4pm. This gathering will be a testament to the love and devotion Mary shared, a time for loved ones to offer prayers, share cherished memories, and honor her remarkable journey.
