In Loving Memory of Michael Todd Sandborn

August 2, 1964 – July 20, 2025

With profound sadness and abiding love, we announce that Michael Todd Sandborn, 60, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, passed away on July 20, 2025. 

Born on August 2, 1964, Michael was the son of Dr. William Sandborn and the late Marie Sandborn. He is survived by his father and by his siblings, Dr. William Sandborn, Monica Sandborn, and Natalya Sandborn. 

Michael’s life was defined by curiosity, creativity, and connection. A gifted painter, he filled canvases—and the lives of those around him—with vibrant color and emotion. His love of the arts extended well beyond his studio: he rarely missed an exhibit, concert, or dance floor, delighting in every opportunity to celebrate human expression. 

Professionally, Michael excelled as a salesman across multiple industries, a talent rooted in his genuine interest in people and his boundless enthusiasm. Before launching his business career, he served in the United States Army, earning several awards during his military service. 

Michael embraced family above all. As a devoted husband to Helise Sandborn, he was a constant source of support, laughter, and love. He was a proud step-father to Lea Blatt and her husband, Dr. Craig Blatt, and Joshua Stuart and his wife, Jenna Stuart. To his four grandchildren—Lily, Isaac, Emma, and Isabella—he was affectionately known as “Zazzie.” Their fondest memories will be of Michael’s booming laugh echoing through the house, the twinkle in his eye, and the joyful “airplane” rides he gave—arms outstretched, grandkids soaring through the air amid peals of giggles. 

Michael’s warmth, wit, and willingness to see the best in everyone left an indelible mark on friends, colleagues, and family alike. He taught us to savor art, relish a good conversation, and never miss a chance to dance. 

A gathering to celebrate Michael’s life will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of his artistic legacy, the family welcomes donations to the Spruill Center for the Arts, 5339 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338 (www.spruillarts.org).
