Mrs. Rachel Janette (Schlabach) DelNero, age 73, of Jasper, GA passed away on May 14, 2025. Rachel was born in Bad Axe, MI, daughter of the late Lloyd L. Schlabach and M. Janette Schlabach.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University and continued her studies in Early Childhood Education at Chattahoochee Technical College in Georgia. An intelligent woman of many passions, throughout her life Rachel served as a Social Worker, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, Certified Nursing Assistant, Substitute High School Teacher, and the owner of a small business – Rachel’s Garden.
Rachel took great pride and joy in her many hobbies – crafting jewelry, candles, and skin care products, which she would often sell at local farmers’ markets. She also loved baking, gardening, and especially reading.
Rachel is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years: Ronald DelNero;
She is survived by her son, Matthew Peaselee of Jasper, GA; daughter, Brittney DelNero, daughter-in-law Tedi Davidson, and grandson, Caiden DelNero of Ft Eisenhower, GA; and sisters Ruthe Wehde of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jeanne Ligon of Woodstock, GA, and Barbara and brother-in-law D.J. Teeslink of Santa Fe, NM; and four nieces and nephews: Brooke and Brant Wehde, and David and Chad Ligon.
A Celebration of Life service will be held May 28th at 10am at the Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites anyone who knew Rachel to make a donation in her name to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
