Richard John Lofstrand, 77, peacefully made his transition from his earthly home to his spirit’s next experience on December 5th, 2024.
Richard was born May 27th, 1947 in Everett, MA, and was the son of the late John and Beatrice Lofstrand. He was also proceeded in death by his brother, Carl Lofstrand.
With a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Richard spent most of his career with Yokogawa Corporation of America in Newnan, GA. He retired as a US government contractor in 2002 working on Blackhawk helicopters in Corpus Christi, TX.
Richard was also a very talented quilter and knitter, often gifting family and friends with his creations. A fan of Southern gospel music, Richard loved to sing, and he was a formidable competitor in a variety of board games—especially Dominoes.
A loving husband, father, brother and friend, Richard will be missed by many people. He is survived by his husband of 28 ½ years, Danny Spears, daughter Rochelle Lofstrand (Jennifer); daughter Kimberly Lofstrand-Snow (Kathy); son Andrew Lofstrand (Emily); grandchildren Preston, Markale, Finnegan, Madelyn, and Sarah; five grandcats and five granddogs. as well as he and Danny’s 15 year-old “kitten” Dylan (lovingly referred to by Richard as “Damn Cat”).
There will be a Celebration of Life at Unity of Gainesville, Georgia on January 4th at 11am, the Rev. Richard Burdick officiating.
