Robert John French

October 25, 1949 — May 5, 2025

Kennesaw

Robert John French, affectionately known as Bob, crossed over peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 5th, 2025, after a brief, yet brave, battle with gallbladder cancer. Bob was 75 years young and could light up any room with his bright smile and youthful twinkle in his eye.

Although Bob resided in Georgia the latter half of his life, he would proudly boast that he was a “Philly guy”. Bob was born on Tuesday, October 25, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Frederick and Evelyn Rueck French. In addition to his parents, Bob was proceeded in death by his siblings, John and Mary, and his loving wife of 41yrs, MaryAnn. Nearing his death, Bob spoke of seeing them often; so it brings his family and friends great comfort to know he is reunited with them now, celebrating over some heavenly pie and wine.

Bob is survived by “the last love of his life”, Elaine Nichols, who was by his side until the very end. Bob proudly leaves behind three beautiful daughters, Rachael Tederous, Amanda (Will) Smith and Ali French. Nothing would light Bob up faster than talking about his two amazing granddaughters, Layna and Lacey Tederous and he held dear all of his nieces and nephews back in PA. Bob also leaves behind his “best friend”, Tera (Lucas) Doyle, who will miss him dearly, along with many other friends from Highland Court and Regency Hospice that became like family to him.

Bob was a lifelong salesman and anyone that met him quickly discovered he had the gift of gab. He had a magical way of leaving you feeling better than he found you…it was his super power. Bob loved being out in the sunshine…gardening, golfing, catching a baseball game and sunbathing by pool or at the beach were just a few of his favorite things. Bob loved coaching his girls’ softball teams and he was an avid Philly and Atlanta sports fan. When Bob wasn’t out enjoying the sunshine, you could find him kicked back in his “lazy Bob” recliner watching a game or a movie, reading a good book or working his beloved crossword puzzles.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, May 31st at 2pm at Highland Court Community Room (4150 George Busbee Parkway NW, Kennesaw GA) with food and fellowship to follow. All that knew and loved him are welcome.
