Rodney Marshall Payne was called to his heavenly home on April 25, 2025, at the age of 58.
Rodney Marshall Payne was born in Rome, Georgia, on October 17, 1966. He was a graduate of Model High School, Class of 1984. He was the proud father of Amelia, Emmaline, and Addison Payne. In addition to raising his daughters (“The Payne Girls”), some of his life accomplishments include: Floyd Junior College Academic Quiz Bowl Team (1986-1987), Boy Scouts, the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia, and athletics.
Rodney will be remembered as a smart accountant with an accounting degree from West Georgia and a passionate soccer referee with his yellow knee brace. As an Excel expert and avid professional who wore a fun necktie, he served our community as a loving father, accountant, and referee assignor. He was a member of the Sam Jones Methodist and Trinity United Methodist Church communities and enjoyed preparing breakfast for the Trinity Men's Group in the Family Life Center.
To honor his life, we will receive family and friends for a “Gratitude Gathering” at the UGA Extension: Bartow County Auditorium on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; in lieu of flowers, please bring household or toiletries items for the Red Door Food Pantry in Cartersville, Georgia to provide for the Bartow County and Cartersville City community.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, William Herman Payne and Betty Sue Ralston, and siblings: William “Dwight” Payne and Charlene Payne Hendrix. Rodney is survived by his daughters, Amelia, Emmaline, and Addison Payne.
