Marietta

Ronald Allan Pittman of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Sunday October 5, 2025 at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born November 22, 1947 in Austell, Georgia.

Ronald is survived by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Joan Brown Pittman; brother Kelly Pittman; sister Ann Frazier; two loving children Ronald Brian Pittman (wife Robin) and Katy Pittman Bullock (husband Brian); and his six grandchildren Ashley Pittman Thompson (husband James), Noah Pittman, Piper Pittman, Hunter Bullock, Will Bullock, and Aaron Kurth.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jackson Pittman and Royce Ann Larsen.

Ronald “Ron” Pittman, (“Papa”) was an active member in the Marietta community for over 50 years. After a long career with The State of Georgia Building Authority, he and his wife Joan retired to enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. They made many cherished memories with family and friends enjoying time on their back porch, summer pool parties, and countless mornings of Papa cooking his iconic weekend breakfast for his family.

He loved sitting in his rocking chair on the porch watching the Braves, Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs. He had a heart as big as his sense of humor. Laughter was never lacking when Papa was pulling one of his practical jokes. He was not scared to use a prop like a fake mustache or glasses to make his loved ones laugh.

He cherished trips to Hilton Head Island and Panama City Beach. He enjoyed growing the best tomatoes, playing endless rounds of golf with his best friend Scott, and laughing with friends and family by the pool while he played music on his CD player.

Above all else, Ronald loved his family more than anything. He dedicated his life to being an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 12th from 2-4 p.m. at the Brumby Hall and Gardens at 472 Powder Springs Street, Marietta, GA 30064. Please park at the Hilton and use the gate to enter the Brumby Gardens.
