Roy James Henderson

March 31, 1960 — August 30, 2023

Roy James Henderson (63), of Dunwoody, Georgia, passed away on August 30th, 2023 after being a lifesaving organ donor.


Roy was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to John Joe Henderson and Virginia Catherine Henderson on March 31st, 1960 with a very ecstatic older sister Janet Ann Martin welcoming him home.


Roy went to college at The University of Texas at El Paso graduating with a Bachelors of Business Administration with Honors in Accounting. Roy continued his accounting career with several companies but his passion was always mining similar to his Father, John.


In 1989, Roy met Becky when he began working with her at Amax Potash Mine in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Roy and Becky went on to have two children, Hayden James Henderson and Sarah Lynne Henderson.


With a career opportunity with nGimat, The Henderson’s moved to Atlanta. After the move, Roy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and immediately used his sickness to help others by enrolling in Emory’s Parkinson's research program and participated in countless trials over the past 20 years.


Roy dedicated his life to serving others in need regardless of the circumstance.


Roy was preceded in death by his parents, John Joe Henderson and Virginia Catherine Henderson. He is survived by his wife Becky Jeanne Henderson, sister and brother-in-law Janet Ann Martin and Gary Scott Martin. Children, Hayden James Henderson and daughter-in-law DeAnna Marie Henderson and Sarah Henderson and son-in-law Kasey Alexander Hunter. He was very well loved by his dog and grandpups Murphy, Lilia, Snickers and Earl.


Roy spent the last week of his life with family at Lake Burton and finding out the incredible news from his son Hayden and daughter-in-law DeAnna that he is going to be a first time grandfather this upcoming February.


Services will be held at Dunwoody Baptist Church on Friday September 1st at 11 AM in the chapel with a reception with lunch to follow.
