Sharon Giddens Askew

Sharon Giddens Askew, 78, of Newnan went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2026 at Southwest Christian Care. Sharon was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 20, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William T. Giddens of Haines City, Florida.

Sharon graduated from Haines City High School in 1965. She worked on the Stock Exchange in Atlanta and in retail throughout her career. She shared thirty years of marriage with Jim Askew, during which they raised their family together. Her faith was the foundation of her life. Sharon always enjoyed being involved in women’s prayer groups and Bible studies. Her hobbies included drawing, painting, gardening, baking, shopping for antiques, and interior decorating. She moved to Newnan, GA, in 2012 and was a member of Encounter Life Church where she was involved in their women’s prayer ministry.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Giddens 01/07/2007 (82) and her father William “Bill” Giddens 12/10/2007 (87). She is survived by her sister: Angie Akins, Two sons: Kevin Askew (Esther) and Spencer Askew, Grandchildren: Campbell Askew and Colton Askew.

A Celebration of Life officiated by Rev. Jake Gould will be held at Encounter Life Church Newnan Campus on Sunday, June 28, 2026: 2:30pm visitation and 3:00pm service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to Southwest Christian Care of Union City or Encounter Life Church in Newnan, GA.
