Sharon April McKinney

Sharon April McKinney, 84, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Sharon was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Gifford. As a young woman, she lived in France and Germany, experiences that inspired her lifelong love of travel and adventure.

Sharon found joy in life's simple pleasures. An avid reader, she loved puzzles--especially crosswords-as well as crafting, gardening, and birdwatching. She cherished time outdoors, whether hiking in the Georgia mountains, strolling through gardens, or boating and relaxing at the lake. Nature brought her peace. She also adored animals and was well known for her daily neighborhood walks with her beloved dog, Mickey.

Sharon dedicated 30 years of service to Northside Hospital and valued deeply the friendships she made there. She was a loving partner, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, remembered for her contagious laugh and youthful spirit.

She was preceded in death by her son, Shawn A. Gabbard.

She is survived by her partner, Keith Rice; daughters Kelly Finocchio (Frank) and Kyle Porter (Craig); grandson Matt Porter (Jessica); granddaughter Jessica Baer; and great ­granddaughters Annabelle and Josephine Baer.

A service celebrating Sharon's life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clements Episcopal Church in Canton, Georgia, followed by a reception in the worship center.
