It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen Keith Connell, age 58, on April 6, 2025. Stephen was born in Winter haven Fl. on February 19, 1967, as the youngest of six sons to James and Toy Connell, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Michael R. Connell and sister-in-law Linda Connell.
Stephen graduated Wheeler County High School and attended Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, GA with a music scholarship. His time at Southwestern University further nurtured his love of the arts and his creative spirit.
Later in life, Stephen channeled much of his artistic passion as a leather works craftsman. With his attention to detail and his skilled craftmanship, Stephen's leather works were sought after items that were admired by many.
Stephen was an avid reader and could usually be found with a book or tablet in his hands. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his friends or family playing board games. His quiet strength, individuality, and dedication to his craft will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, passion, and the memory of a kind and thoughtful soul.
He maintained true and long-lasting friendships. Here are some shared sentiments of his friends and close family, "Steve lived a life marked with compassion, curiosity and quiet strength and he was known for his quick wit, warm heart, and unwavering loyalty. He was welcoming and made the world a brighter place."
"Steve was more than a friend. He had crossed that threshold to become a part of my chosen family a long time ago. He was always ready to lend a hand or a word whether you wanted it or not at the time. We have lost a brother, a storyteller. The world is a darker place without him. He has gone before us, and I will miss him."
Though Stephen never married and had no children, his life was enriched with the relationships of friends and family. Stephen is survived by his siblings James Connell Jr., Richard Connell (Karen), Kenneth Connell, and William Connell along with many nephews, nieces, and his core group of close friends. Stephen will be missed by all who knew him.
