Stiles Dewitt Brown of Newnan, Georgia, passed away on May 16, 2025. Born in Atlanta on March 6, 1961, Stiles was a devoted father, brother, and friend. His greatest joy in life was raising his three sons: Stiles Dewitt Brown Jr., Payton Warren Brown, and Kerry Vaughn Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Grey Brown Sr. and Virginia Owens Brown, both of Atlanta, Georgia.
Stiles is survived by his brothers, Roger Grey Brown Jr. (and his wife Becky) of Alpharetta, and Keith Ward Brown of Athens, Georgia; his nephew, Roger Grey Brown III (and his wife Cate) of Alpharetta; and his nieces, Victoria Elizabeth Brown of Alpharetta, Summer Lacie Brown of Atlanta, and Kailey Constance Brown of Jacksonville, Florida.
Stiles flew for Eastern Metro Airlines and as a captain ASA Airlines for 30 years, logging over 20,000 flight hours. Even in retirement, his passion for aviation remained strong—he continued to fly and maintain a personal aircraft. He was widely known for his kindness, humility, and steady leadership both in and out of the cockpit. In his retirement he would spend countless hours on the phone with Roger III, as a friend and an aviation mentor.
In his youth, Stiles was a standout high school football player, recruited by the University of Pennsylvania, and also excelled in judo. He graduated from Briarcliff High School and attended Georgia State University where he majored in finance.
Above all, Stiles was committed to his sons. He consistently chose time with them over career or personal gain, building a legacy rooted in love, presence, and shared experience. Stiles, Payton and Kerry were his pride and joy and he was confident that their work ethics and dedication would take them far in life and that they all had a very bright future. Attesting to that, all three are leaders in their own careers.
He and his sons attended Crossroads Church in Newnan, where faith and family remained at the heart of his life.
