Terrell Hazen Hollingsworth

April 8, 1936 — July 15, 2025

Smyrna, GA

Terrell Hazen Hollingsworth (Terry) died on July 15, 2025, at 89, with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on April 8, 1936, to Gladys (nee Nations) and Jodie Lee Hollingsworth, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout when he was 13 years old and graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School. He went on to Stetson University, where he played football, joined Sigma Nu Fraternity, the Letterman’s Club, and became 2nd Lieutenant in ROTC. After graduation, he became a U.S. Army Ranger. While at Stetson, he met his future wife, Lynn (nee Ezell), and they married in 1957. They were married for 68 years.

Terry started his career at Continental Can Co. in Atlanta but left to join E.B. Malone Co., a Florida-based bedding manufacturer. Malone sent him and his family to Pottstown, PA, to open a manufacturing plant, where he excelled, becoming president of the Jaycees and Rotary Club, and was awarded "Outstanding Young Man" in 1967. The family was transferred back to Winter Haven, FL, where he worked at the company headquarters until it was sold to Bassett Furniture. They then moved to Atlanta, GA, where he spent the rest of his career in furniture sales. He was very active in IHFRA, holding the office of president in 2005, and in 2009 was honored with the organization’s highest honor, the Harold P. Braun Distinguished Service Award.

His passion was hunting, and he found solace when spending time in the woods stalking deer or practicing target shooting, either alone or with his sons and grandsons. When he was 45, he survived a serious fall from a tree and, despite life-threatening injuries, walked a mile to get help. He was a tough guy.

He cherished lifelong friendships with many people, including his Stetson buddies, known as the “Stetson’s Bushmen.” He enjoyed tennis and running in his early years, running in the Peachtree Road Race many times.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his daughter, Jennifer, of Atlanta; his son, Lee, of Bend, OR; three grandsons, Jeff, Michael, and Jake; and a great-grandson, Noah. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Jeff. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
