Terry Johnson, 66, formerly from Woodstock, GA, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025. Born on October 6, 1958, in Columbus, OH, to Raymond R. Johnson II and Janice Esther Johnson, Terry lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep devotion, unwavering faith, and an unconditional love for his family. Graduated from THE Ohio State University class of ‘81, remaining a dedicated lifelong Buckeye fan. He obtained his Master's degree from Pace University in 1988. Terry enjoyed a successful career in information technology, retiring from IBM after more than 30 years of service and dedicating an additional 14 years operating as the CIO for multiple companies. Known for his professionalism, technical expertise, and calm presence, he earned the respect of his colleagues and built lasting friendships throughout his career.
Beyond his work, Terry was most proud of his role as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Patricia (Patty) Johnson, and their five children: Chelsea Basinger, Whitney Flockhart (Stevie), Austin Johnson, Molly Johnson (Sarah), and Karley Lane (Ethan). He was a proud grandfather to Finn, Judah, and Isla Flockhart, Ray Mooney, Fitz, and Scout Lane. Also, a brother to his siblings, Ray Johnson (Robin), Valerie Hagley (Brad), and Don Johnson, and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Terry was a dedicated coach and mentor, volunteering countless hours to his children’s sports teams—coaching softball, baseball, and basketball with patience, encouragement, and a true love for the game. He made an impact not just on his own kids but on many young athletes who looked up to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his son-in-law, Zac Basinger.
Terry will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and steady presence. He lived his life with integrity, generosity, and a deep sense of responsibility to those he loved.
