THOMAS EDWARD HARDING, 71, of Cartersville, GA, passed away on October 2, 2025. He was born in Gary, IN, and was the son of the late Don and Ann Harding.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Robin. Children and bonus children: Tom Harding II (Tammy), Tara Hirsch (Formerly Ed), Mark Vicari (Sandi), and Marcy Rieckhoff. Grandchildren: Americuss Hirsch, Hannah Harding, Chris Hill, Cody, Cole, and Dustin Rieckhoff, Andrew Vicari, and Danny, David (Rebecca) Brady, and four great-grandchildren. Brothers: David, Jim, and Bill (Dawn) Harding. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Terry and Tom Melton, Johnny, Debbie Prange, and Suzie and Mike Vercimak. He had many nephews and nieces, several cousins, special friends Steve and Katrina Powers, and, of course, his beloved pet Sadie—his “baby girl.”
Tom had a long career in railcar manufacturing at Thrall Car, then Trinity Rail, which allowed him to work and live in four states and the UK. He also spent five years in bus manufacturing at New Flyer of America. He was very proud of his time serving as a volunteer firefighter for the New Chicago, IN, Fire Department.
He loved hockey and football, being a lifelong fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Minnesota with his wife’s family. Tom lived hard, worked hard, and played hard. Now he can rest.
Following his wishes, there will be no service or memorial. The next time you’re gathered with friends or family, just raise your glasses and say, “Here’s to you, Tom.” You know he’ll be smiling.
