Thomas James McWilliams

Thomas James McWilliams, 55, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on August 4, 2026.

Thomas was born on October 27, 1970, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Thomas “Tommy Ray” McWilliams and Cheryl Greene. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dawn “Lee” Jeffares-McWilliams.

Thomas graduated from Roosevelt High School in Atlanta in 1988, now known as Maynard Holbrook Jackson High School. He had a lifelong interest and talent in architectural drafting, a hobby he continued practicing well into his 50s. His creativity and skill often came to life through his work as an electrician.

Some of Thomas’s happiest moments were the simple ones spent surrounded by the people he loved. He enjoyed working in the yard and gardening alongside his wife, taking trips to Lake Tugaloo, and traveling to visit family throughout the year. During the fall, evenings after work and school were often spent gathered around the burn pit he built in the backyard, sharing stories, laughter, and time together.

Sundays were filled with NASCAR, while Star Wars movies and ’80s music were familiar favorites in the McWilliams home. More than anything, the home was filled with the sounds of laughter and joy.

In his later years, Thomas treasured every moment he could spend with his granddaughter, Riley. He delighted in sharing his love of Star Wars with her, even giving her a toy lightsaber, and enjoyed watching KPop Demon Hunters with her. The time they shared brought him tremendous happiness.

Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. He will be remembered for his humor, his love for his family, and the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. The world will be a little darker and a little less funny without him.

Thomas is survived by his son, Nicholas McWilliams; daughters, Catherine Wallace, Samantha McWilliams, and Chastity McWilliams; granddaughter, Riley Rosa-Lee Rodrigues; mother, Cheryl Greene; uncle, James “Tim” McWilliams; aunt, Sue Benson; cousins, Theresa Cobb, Richard Benson, and Diane Benson; stepmother, Karolynne Davenport; and stepsisters, Lacey King, Kelly Acevedo, Randi Bishop, and Haley Brown.

He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Bubba, Penny, Todd, and Kanga.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank-you to all of Thomas’s friends and family who loved, supported, and stood by him throughout the years.

Thomas will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
