Vickie McKinney Hawkins, age 75, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on December 17, 2025. She was born October 10, 1950 in Burlington, North Carolina and was the daughter of Luther and Hilda McKinney. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dana Ray Hawkins.
Vickie graduated from Georgia State University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts. She was an exceptional artist, talented in blue and white porcelain painting and excelling in watercolor, as well as multiple other creative media. She was an avid reader and loved music - particularly Motown and Beach music. Notably, she would sing The Temptations “My Girl” as “My Boy” for her son, Zachary. Her love of beach music was echoed by her love of the beach itself where she would make yearly trips to make memories with family and friends. She was a friend like no other, a mermaid, who’s love, generosity, and charisma will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and loving sister, and welcomed many others into her chosen family, where she supported and lifted them up.
She will forever be missed by her son, Zachary Hawkins; daughter-in-law, Pascale Hawkins (née Desplanque); and grandchildren, Josephine and Raleigh. She is also survived by her brother, Keith McKinney; his wife Joy McKinney (née Stewart); nieces Kim Ziegler (née McKinney), Shannon McKinney, and Shelby McKinney; and nephew Casey McKinney. She leaves behind her faithful cavalier, Lexi.
Vickie’s life and art will be celebrated on January 31, 2026 at 1:00 in the afternoon at Chestnut Ridge Christian Church, 2663 Johnson’s Ferry Rd. Marietta, Georgia 30062.
