Kennesaw

Vivian Murdock Paulson, 87, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026. She was born on March 9, 1939, in Enterprise, Alabama, to the late Joe and Wyllene Murdock. After graduating from Enterprise High School, Vivian moved to Montgomery, Alabama, to begin a career with the State of Alabama. She ultimately spent the majority of her public service career providing executive support for the Alabama Air National Guard. In 1961, Vivian met and married her husband, Byron, in Montgomery. Together, they welcomed one daughter, Gina. They were longtime, active members of the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany and later St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, both in Montgomery.

Vivian was a fantastic southern cook who delighted her family with her meals, and she always enjoyed an occasional, lively trip to Biloxi, Mississippi with her daughter. In her later years, following a diagnosis of dementia, Vivian moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, to live in a memory care community close to her daughter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by family and friends as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Byron Alsworth Paulson; her brother, Hershel Murdock; and her sisters, Mozelle Farris and Carolyn Baxley. She is survived by her daughter, Gina (Phil) Laney; her grandchildren, Trent Laney and Brendan Laney; her brother, Mickey (Liz) Murdock; and several nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held on October 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. Pastor Steve Richardson of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will officiate the service.
