William Emory "Bill" Christie, 80, passed away on May 8, 2025, in Luthersville, Georgia.
Born on January 9, 1945, in Valdosta, Georgia, Bill led a life marked by curiosity, craftsmanship, and dedication. His early years took him across continents — he attended the Paris American Elementary School in France — before completing his education at Boone High School in Orlando, Florida. He later earned his BS in Engineering Technology from the University of Florida.
Bill began his professional journey with Mercury Marine. His career evolved into a distinguished path in engineering and quality control. He designed power supplies and served as a quality manager for NCR in Altamonte Springs, Florida and went on to serve as a quality director for Bausch & Lomb in Rochester, New York. Later, he held the same role at Conair Corporation in Glendale, Arizona, where he eventually retired.
Bill also served his country with honor for ten years in the United States Navy as an avionics specialist during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected his technical acumen and commitment to excellence.
Outside of work and service, Bill was a man of many passions. He was an avid golfer who found joy on the fairways. A licensed private pilot and aircraft builder, he combined precision with adventure in the skies. His love for model railroading showcased his attention to detail and imagination. After purchasing his 1987 Porsche, he equally enjoyed improving it and racing it, including turns around the track at Phoenix Raceway in Arizona. As an exceptional woodworker, he crafted pieces that reflected both skill and artistry.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife Tina; his brother Michael and sister-in-law Marie; and by those who knew him as a loving husband, caring brother, as well as a loyal and supportive friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hill Christie and Madeline Caulk Christie.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
