William Thomas Kemp, age 89, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.
Born on July 15, 1936, W.T. lived a long and meaningful life marked by hard work, service, and devotion to his family. Known for his kindness, integrity, and willingness to help others, he touched the lives of many throughout his years. He took pride in providing for his family and valued the relationships he built throughout a lifetime of service.
W.T. was married to the love of his life, Edith Couch Kemp, for over 70 years, building a legacy of commitment, faithfulness, and enduring love that inspired all who knew them. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Hannah Kemp; sisters Imogene (Buck) Brownlee, Peggy (Gerald) Dean, and Bobbie (Joe) Alonzo; son Laddie Kemp; and grandson Seth Kemp. He is survived by his wife, Edith; daughter Michelle (Lee) Daniel; grandchildren Wilkes (Sherri) Kemp, Aubin (Annette) Kemp, Callahan (Kristi) Roberson, Alston (Constance) Roberson, and Lauren Roberson; and great-grandchildren Mitchell, Elena, Nola and Nayvee.
For over 42 years, he worked for The Lovable Company where he earned the respect and friendship of his coworkers. Following his career there, he continued serving his community through 30 years of employment with Sosebee Auto Supply, becoming a familiar and trusted face to customers and colleagues.
His dedication to service extended far beyond his professional life. He was a devoted Boy Scout leader, one of the first certified Gun Safety instructors in Georgia, President of the Gwinnett County Sportsman Club, and Vice President of the Georgia Wildlife Federation. A member of Lawrenceville First Baptist Church, he faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and the church’s beloved “official hugger” for over 60 years.
Throughout his life, W.T. enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, gardening, and cooking. Whether spending time outdoors, sharing a meal, or visiting with friends and family, he found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections.
William Thomas Kemp leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and dedication that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community. Big hugs and lots of love!
